Parallèlement, un programme de recherche a été lancé en 2022 à La Réunion pour étudier les artefacts en verre découverts sur l’île depuis 2012 et comprendre leur usage, leur provenance, leur datation afin de contribuer à interpréter les occupations. Cette recherche soulève l’hypothèse d’une nouvelle dénomination : un verre agro-industriel en lien avec les distilleries, dans une économie coloniale de plantations du XVIIe au XXe siècle. Since 2011, glass furniture has been examined as part of preventive and planned archaeological excavations in the Antilles Islands, French Guyana and the Indian Ocean Islands. At the same time, a research program was launched in 2022 on Reunion Island to study the glass artifacts discovered on the island since 2012 and understand their use, their origin, their age in order to help interpret the occupations.
