En dehors de tout social-darwinisme et de l’anthropologie physique, il éclaire les causes des migrations, les origines géographiques et l’histoire de l’océan Indien et le processus fondant l’unité culturelle du peuple malgache. Echoing from what has been said about Malagasy origins, the author examines the various hypotheses, without neglecting the mythistories, explains them in terms of ideological, political and scientific conditions in which they were conceived, and establishes what can be scientifically said today. En premier lieu sur ses origines, qui font la part belle à des théories complotistes fausses et, côté français, aux erreurs d’analyse du pouvoir sur les sociétés malgaches et la situation politique du pays. La vision des réalités de l’insurrection sur le terrain a été occultée par les préjugés et les passions qui ont amplifié les violences et suscité une masse énorme de rumeurs et fausses nouvelles, et une véritable hystérie sociale. D’où l’essor d’une légende noire sur les atrocités commises et sur le bilan de l’insurrection qui domine encore les esprits.
